FAQ
How frequently should I have lessons?
Lessons are available weekly, fortnightly, monthly or on a casual basis. Weekly lessons with consistent practise between are most effective for beginners. If time and/or budget does not allow for weekly lessons, fortnightly is next best. Monthly lessons are only recommended for intermediate students and not beginners.
Can I have a once off lesson, or just two or three?
Yes. If you are just wanting a few lessons to get started on your journey, or you are an experienced accordion player wanting some advice then you are welcome to reach out and schedule a lesson with no obligation to commit to more.
What days do you teach?
Current teaching hours are Tuesday 1500-1800, Wednesday 0900-1800 and Thursday 0900-1800 Australian Eastern Time (Melbourne). These windows are subject to change at any time.
Do I have to follow a method book?
Lucy uses the Palmer-Hughes method books for beginners and will usually take a student up to book 4. From there it's a student's choice as to whether they continue through the method books or journey away into repertoire from other sources.
What ages do you teach?
Lucy teaches anyone age 5 and up. For children between 5-9 Lucy uses Keyndergarten, a Montessori inspired curriculim.Lessons for children are only available in person. Lessons online are available for ages 12 and up.
Do you offer other opportunities to develop musicianship?
Lucy holds student concerts over Zoom for her online students to practise performing.
